SOME ODD GIRL OCTOBER CHALLENGE
Welcome back! I created this card to enter in the October Challenge for Some Odd Girl. The Challenge this month is an optional twist of using the colours Black, Orange and Purple. Being the month of October, i thought the reason for this colour combo was probably because of the Halloween tradition celebrated in the USA. As I don't celebrate Halloween here in Australia, I decided to add an extra "twist" to my project by creating a Birthday card instead!
I began by creating a layered background on a white blank card with card stock from my stash starting with a layer of purple textured card stock, followed by a glittery orange layer cut with Mama Elephant Femme Frames die, and then a black die cut frame. Unfortunately the glitter doesn't show up very well in the photo but its very sparkly!!
I then stamped the images using Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad and coloured them using a combination of Copic Markers, Zig Clean Color Markers and a new brand I'm trying out called Nuvo Markers for the skin tones. I was quite happy with the result of these markers and will probably look into buying a few more colours. I like that you buy them in sets of three which co-ordinate well together when blending. I simply cut around the images leaving a small white border.
The stamp images are from two different older sets I have from Some Odd Girl called Gwen In Bloom (flowers) and Balloon Kaylee (girl and Happy BIrthday images).
To assemble my card I used double sided foam tape to attach "Kaylee" so she can "pop" out and double sided tape for the flowers and Happy Birthday. Finally I added a few little bits from my stash - butterfly and orange drops to complete my card.
I hope you enjoyed this post. Thanks for visiting!
